Analysis believes that Ukraine needs more sophisticated howitzer weapons to defend its positions. Western countries are supplying weapons at a slower rate than Ukraine requires. In the early days of the war, they feared angering Russia, and politicians grossly underestimated the Ukrainians' resolve to resist the invasion.
