Project Overview

The Ecological Organic Agriculture Initiative (EOA-I) is a continent-wide mission driven by the African Union Commission to mainstream ecological organic agriculture into national policies and agricultural programs across Africa.

Agriculture is the backbone of the continental economy, accounting for over 30% of the GDP in many sub-Saharan African countries. EOA-I works to shift the paradigm away from chemical-intensive practices, advocating for an agricultural system that is environmentally friendly, relies on naturally available organic resources, and secures the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. AfrONet serves as a critical implementing engine, strategically developing structures to support National Organic Agriculture Movements (NOAMs) in executing this vision.
